In electrical engineering field, there are three level,

At the most top : electrical service engineer

At the second : Competent electrical engineer

The third : Professional electrical engineer

4th : Graduate engineer

5th : Engineer with no registration with BEM.

Preparation for PI.

PI requires you to submit two types of report. report on your working experience and another one is report on your design.

For report A.

write about your past experience since your graduation ( including your practical session) until now. Give brief introduction about company you work with. who supervise you and also state there haw many month you work with them.

For report B.

select one project that you know in detail. get some drawing. write some equation. and produce tremendous results using excel.

Bind it, and submit.

Be professional engineer

Prior registration with board of engineer malaysia, go to www.iem.gov.my and download graduate IEM membership from. register to become graduate member of IEM.

be graduate member of IEM is an optional, but it will help you tremendously. as you read new regulation of BEM, if you register to be graduate member BEM after 2008, you must collect PDP at least 90 points. So what is PDP? becoming a graduate member of IEM will help you solving this problem.

after 3 years working you can directly apply to sit professional interview. now, PI interview is only conducted by IEM. at this stage if you PDP not reach 90 points, you still can apply. remember PDP is only for registration with BEM.

well, to be professional engineer in malaysia firstly you must complete you degree study in engineering field. any engineering filed. but what you must ensure that your degree must be accredited by EAC. if not, then you must do some work (take exam or top-up master degree)

after graduation, immediately register with board of engineers malaysia as graduate engineer.

then, work for 3 years under supervision professional engineer which have same discipline with you. after 3 years apply for professional engineer

Sorry for long time not posting in this blog. Besa la, org ada blog kita nak ada jugak. hehe to own blog is another thing and to keep maintain writing the blog is another hard thing.

so today and onwards, i would like to share and discuss with those interested on how to become a professional engineer in Malaysia.

As most of us know, to get an information on how to become professional engineer in Malaysia is damn difficult. if you digg from internet, the information is insufficient.

So I would like to call if some of readers have an experience to be a professional engineer, please share with us. it doesnt matter if you from civil, electrical or mechanical discipline.
